Triumph Motorcycles has created a buzz in the Indian biking scene with the launch of the Scrambler 400X. Priced at Rs. 2,62,996 (ex-showroom, Delhi), it’s now the most budget-friendly scrambler offering from the esteemed British bikemaker in India. What’s more, akin to the Speed 400, the Scrambler 400X is proudly manufactured in India through a partnership with Bajaj.
A Stylish Blend of Scrambler and SpeedScrambler 400X
The Triumph Scrambler shares its design DNA with the Speed, boasting a round LED headlight, turn indicators, fuel tank, and an overall styling that’s reminiscent of its sibling. However, being a Scrambler, it wears an off-road persona with pride. This transformation includes a taller stance, a protective headlight grill, a split seat, rugged handlebar guards, and ergonomic enhancements.
Powerhouse Beneath the Scrambler’s Skin Scrambler 400X
Under the Scrambler striking exterior lies a potent 399cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that delivers an impressive 39.5bhp and 37.5Nm of torque. This powerplant is mated to a responsive six-speed gearbox and features a slipper and assist clutch. Both the Scrambler and the Speed share a similar set of features, including LED lighting, traction control, a USB charging port, ride-by-wire technology, switchable ABS, and a semi-digital instrument console.
A Shift in Hardware Scrambler 400X
One of the key distinctions between the Scrambler 400X and its road-centric counterpart, the Speed 400, lies in the hardware. The Scrambler rolls on a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel, both shod with dual-purpose tires. Its suspension system comprises USD front forks and a mono-shock at the rear, while the braking setup features a 320mm front disc and a 230mm rear disc.
Affordable Adventure Awaits
With an enticing starting price of Rs. 2,62,996 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the 400X comes at a premium of approximately Rs. 33,000 over its street-focused sibling. In its segment, this Triumph creation competes head-to-head with the Yezdi Scrambler and the Royal Enfield Scram 411.
The arrival of the Triumph 400X brings an exciting blend of style, performance, and affordability to the Indian motorcycling landscape. Whether you’re an off-road enthusiast or a style-conscious rider, this British-made scrambler offers a compelling proposition that’s worth exploring.
